Why Settle for a Human Face When You Can Celebrate #Bookfacefriday?

When the workers of France’s Librairie Mollat have downtime, they put their stock to good use by creating human face/book hybrids for their Instagram page! This led to a delightful wormhole of bookfaces created by Word Books, and the comprehensive Twitter thread entitled #bookfacefriday, which is now officially our favorite day of the week, and our favorite thing to do with a Friday.

We’ve rounded up some of our favorites below!

Because we can’t let Padme have all the fun, here’s Mary from Rochester Hills Library creating a dashing Threepio #bookface:

Over at the Albany Public Library, some readers used #bookfacefriday to celebrate Black History Month:

blackhistorymatters

And technically this isn’t a book, but we love that Burnaby Public Library honored Buffy’s 20th Anniversary:

Catherine of Gail Borden Library took this Squirrel Girl #bookface to the next level with the addition of a tail.

And in something of a #throwbackbookface, here’s Tor.com’s own Molly Templeton as the “Saint” half of Gene Luen Yang’s Boxers & Saints, back when she worked at WORD Bookstore in Brooklyn. WORD’s former manager, Emily Pullen, has a long-running Tumblr collection of bookfaces called Corpus Libris!

The Nebraska Library Commission chose to eschew faces entirely to combine books and nature:

And finally, we love this proof from Brantford Library that #bookface doesn’t have to be a humans-only endeavor:

Woofface

Of course, they’re all good dogs, Brantford.

You can check out more from Librairie Maillot here and here, and a whole thread of #bookfacefriday submissions here—but we also recommend that you make your own to share!
